McGuigan Zero Shiraz 2020: Review

Before we start: If you are new to drinking non-alcoholic wine try my 2 minute Guide to Non-Alcoholic Wine. One of the best Australian de-alcoholised red wines: McGuigan Zero Shiraz is a pleasant fruity medium bodied red. It’s lighter in body and taste profile than most alcoholic shiraz. As a result it is easier to quaff and should be food matched in a manner suited to light to medium bodied red wines. There’s a little bit sugar sweetness. Unless you are very sensitive to sugar this will not be a problem.

If you like this you might also like….

If you are looking for non-alcoholic wines on the high street others of similar quality are Wolf Blass Zero Shiraz, McGuigan Shiraz and Jacob’s Creek Unvined, and finally Plus And Minus Shiraz.

If you are prepared to go shop online there’s better to be found. Try:

Lautus Savvy Red: Probably the best non-alcoholic red out there. South African.

Newblood Shiraz 2019 (no alcohol). Non-alcoholic wine made in NSW, Australia.

Chrismont Frizzante Marzemino (alcoholic red). Red that is fun and serious at the same time.

Food Matching | Food Pairing

Although shiraz is usually matched with sheep and goats milk cheeses, the relative lightness and fruitiness of this one means I suggest a softer style cow or buffalo milk cheese like L’Artisan Marcel, Chamela, Boatshed Tempest, Woombye Ash Triple Brie, or see my cheese and wine pairing guide for more options.

Where to Buy

Always try Wine Searcher It’ll cost about AUD 12. I got mine from Dan Murphys.
