Hahndorf Hill ‘Gru’ Gruner Veltliner 2020: Review
Hahndorf Hill is the winery that put Australian gruner veltliner on the map. Their wines have won plenty of awards often against Austrian gruner veltliners. They have three brackets of gruner veltliner in their range with ‘Gru’ being the one in the middle. This is very nice wine with a nose of pear, and some gooseberry. I prefer this to their cheaper ‘entry’ level White Mischief gruner veltliner because here the pear and apples flavours are more present and to my palate much more appealing. The intensity and finish are good, and to my surprise, paired well with a lamb dish I was eating (!). It costs from AUD27-33. At this quality this is reasonably priced.
12.5% alcohol by volume. Vegan friendly.

Well I just mentioned it stood up well to my middle eastern lamb dish. More conventional matches are to fish and salads. See my cheese and wine pairing guide for more options.
