Hahndorf Hill ‘Blue Blood’ Blaufrankish 2017 Review

This winery is best known for their award winning white wines made from gruner veltliner such as White Mischief and ‘Gru’. However, they have a number of other German / Austrian grapes in their vineyard and make it a point of difference to produce these in the Australian market. Hahndorf Hill ‘Blue Blood’ Blaufrankish is their take on this Austrian red grape. It is medium to full bodied with dark fruits on the palate and a flush of acidity at the back of the mouth. It’s is reasonably smooth and at AUD 55 it is likely to appeal to those most curious about unusual varieties of red wine.
