Boatshed Sun Smoke: Review
Boatshed Sun Smoke cheese is a vegetarian-friendly semi-hard cheese from Dromana in the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne. It’s a cheddar that has been washed in a brine of smoke paprika. Because all those elements; cheddar, paprika and smoke come together seamless it means that this Boatshed Sun Smoke is a delight. The rich orange colour that dominates the outside and infuses into the cheese paste up to 1cm is an alluring sight. And, as you’d expect it the cheese itself is strongly flavoured, yet somehow balanced. The paprika is in proportion and does not overwhelm the cheddar which managed to stay present. This is a return buy for me, and I recommend to all you cheese lovers out there.
Wine Matching | Wine Pairing
Tricky. Boatshed Sun Smoke definitely needs a red, but one that can deal with a big cheddar flavour and the paprika. Probably, it is safest to go for a wine with some sweetness since the sugar will help contrast with the smokiness of the paprika and the meatiness of the cheddar.
