Ashbolt Farm Elderberry Wine NV: Review

This is one of the better non-alcoholic ‘wines’, and one of them that has never been through a fermentation process. Ashbolt Farm Elderberry Wine is a red sparking wine that is served chilled. Because there are only three ingredients, elderberries, sugar and yeast, it is vegetarian friendly. As a result of getting the sugar levels right this doesn’t feel sweet. Instead the flavours are dominated by the elberberries which give it a nice dark and deep flavour. It’s great to drink instead of alcoholic wine, and can be drink with food, at picnics or simply quaffed. I think it is a winner.

** I’m not clear whether fining agents have been used so I’ve avoided saying it is vegan-friendly.
